207 An innovative preclinical mouse model of atopic dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by highly pruritic inflamed lesions and dry skin. AD affects up to 20% of the adult population in developed countries, its onset most common early childhood. This has severe impact on quality life. In this context, there medical need develop new treatments for patients suffering from AD. To improve discovery testing novel treatments, relevant animal models are needed. Translational were developed, but none them exploits “gut-skin axis”, i.e. how neonate gut microbiota influences distal organs, such as skin, coupled with disease. We an innovative preclinical mouse model based colonization neonates inflammation-prone Escherichia coli strain (SP15) natural vertical transmission microbiota. demonstrated that E. combination moderate DSS treatment 7 days resulted alteration intestinal permeability pups (Ussing chamber).
